The third annual Run For Mary – 5km Run/walk/Jog will be held in Peterswell on Saturday 5th November 2016 at 12 noon. This is a wonderful event organised in memory of Mary Prendergast, who passed away in January 2014 at the age of 42 following a courageous battle with cancer, and her baby son Zach who passed away in June 2012.
Over the past two years, the event has raised in excess of €25,000 for local charities. In 2015, the funds raised were used by Galway Hospice to furnish the family rooms in their new extension and by HandinHand to support 15 families in need of support. All funds raised by this year’s event will again be donated to Galway Hospice and HandinHand, the children’s cancer charity.

All young children participating will receive a medal and there will be prizes for the first three male and female athletes. However, this event is open to runners, joggers and walkers of all levels and all are welcome!
